Logan Owen is currently in Europe with USA Cycling participating in 2 World Cup events. This Sunday the team will be in Plzen to compete in the second World Cup race. The aim of the trip is to gain experience and World Cup points with the final goal being the World Championships next February in Louisville.
This is his third installment about his trip. Enjoy.
This morning really wasn’t any different than the past couple of days as far as weather is concerned. We woke up at eight to another foggy morning and did our usual breakfast routine. But after breakfast we had to pack up all of our stuff and try to fit it into one room because we had to take off for Plzen after our rides.
We accomplished the task at hand and then headed out for training. All of us had very different plans for the day so everyone did their own thing, except for Yannick and I. We rolled out together. Joe had prescribed an interval workout for me today and I knew a good loop to do them on. I would do an interval and end up going ahead of Yannick but he would catch me on my rest periods. For the last hour we just rode together and cooled down so it worked out well for both of us. Here is the Garmin link to my ride today so that you can get an idea of the loop and the workout.

When we got back Curtis and Cody had just finished taking their showers, only using one shower because of our one room situation. We all got cleaned up and headed for lunch and waited for Gully to arrive at the hotel so we could leave with his car and the sprinter van.
Gully arrived around 3ish after we had eaten lunch and then we traveled two hours to Plzen. Everything went smoothly and we arrived at our new hotel. This time we had much bigger rooms but still two people to a room. So the U23’s shared a room, the two adults shared a room and the two juniors shared a room. We unpacked and then headed down for dinner at seven. After dinner we headed back up, did some homework and now it is time for some sleep.
Thanks for reading.
