10 minutes. How hard are you willing to go for 10 minutes?
In a race that lasted a little over 3.5 hours it was a mere 10 minute stretch with 45 minutes left that made the difference in making the select front group in Stage 2 of The Tour of Utah.
The above is a snapshot of Logan Owen’s file from Stage 2. For the first 2.75 hours the race was relatively “easy” according to Logan. And then came that 10 minute stretch highlighted in red which saw only 47 of the 121 finishers make it over the top together to contest the stage win.
Logan averaged 401 watts for that 10 minutes of crunch time. “I was in the box towards the top of the climb. It was so hard I could barely see.”
Jure Kocjan won the stage. Logan came 6th, his best result to date in a 2.HC….until Stage 3 that is. More on that later.
