Logan Owen Tour of l’Abitibi Log Day 1

Tete de la Course Cycling Athlete Logan Owen is racing in the Tour of l’Abitibi this week with the US National Team. He will be blogging of his adventures in Canada all week.

This is his first installment.

7/15

So today we woke up in our hotels after finally getting to sleep at 2 am because of baggage delays at the airport. Our plan for the day was to pack up (me with only 1 of my 4 bags because the others were still in Montreal), and head over to the university where we will be staying for the rest of the trip.

We got into our “room” (which was just a classroom with linoleum floors) and some of us built our bikes and some of us just sat there because we had no bikes to build yet. After all this we went to subway and ordered $100 (in Canadian money) worth of sandwiches and drinks (for all of us, not just me). Once we had all stuffed our faces we went and rode the 9km TT course that took us on a VERY technical bike path that is the majority of the route.

It was a super fun course and I can’t wait to fly through the trail for real. So shower time arrived followed by dinner at 7 in the cafeteria and lights were out by 10.

I’m stoked to get to race with Alex Darville, TJ Eisenhart, Geoffrey Curran, Alexey Vermulean, and Greg Daniel for the next week of racing.

Tomorrow I race the 800m sprints as I was the one picked to do it.  Should be fun!

Stay tuned,

Logan.
